Bitmap Limit

Is the Bitmap Limit under preferences set to its optimal number?
What happens if you increase or decreased it?
What is driving this tunable?

Anyone's Feedback is appreciated!!!

I also would like to know things about the bitmap limit

It seems that widgets drain it quite substantially..things i need to know;

Does bitmap limit refer to the number of visual processes being currently displayed?
If not, if you are in tilt mode with an alternatively edited screen does stacking widgets affect the bitmap limit on that screen in both modes collectively?
If I reduce the amount of content visually processed when not in edit mode, will I reduce my bitmap consumption?

You can check out issue #417 which talks about some of the details about bitmap size limit.

To summarize, if you increase bitmap size limit, your widgets will have less memory for bitmaps, and more memory will be available for builtin bitmaps. This will make crashes more likely if you use widgets, but performance may be better. Future releases may do away with this limitation.

I lowered by bitmap limit by 80,000 and it stabilised my entire OS

thank you for the answers, my phone can be used comfortably again; no drags or crashes

I rebuilt this build to be extremely light weight to support 5 or 6 widgets (Rogers HTC Magic Cyanogen Mod Prototype JIT).

I'm considering lowering it even further to give myself even more leeway for widget control.
