How to Create a Splash Screen WITHOUT an image overlay (Date + Scroll Block example)

Added by trs 5 months ago

This one is a bit tricky; this is for the user who is familiar with how to create objects and use springboard blocks.
The following will explain how to create a Splash Screen that displays objects and prevents scrolling without using an Image to cloud lower layers; this strategy conserves the background selected (assuming opaque colours are not selected for key customisation features).
This strategy requires that any items on the menu screen that open a menu cover the previous menu space to avoid easthetic problems, and include a close menu function.

_ Splash Screen (Items) --> Menu (Different Items)_

*[SPLASH SCREEN]*
(Mandatory) Create a Springboard (Splash --> Menu Button)
_ This springboard
(1) Deactivates the Splash Screen Items controlled by the [End Session] Menu Button when selected
(2) Activates the Menu Item Text Block Tags
(3) Activates the Colour Blocks that Act as Menu Buttons_
Expand to Fit Screen if you want any part of the screen to open the menu (that isn't occupied by higher layer objects)
Customize Visual Off as You Wish (Transparent conserves background image)
Customize Visual On as You Wish (Transparent conserves background image)
Layer = 4 use any available space to close splash/open menu (retains interactive function of overlapping items)
Layer = 6 use ALL available space to close splash/open menu (overrides overlapping interactivity)
Minimizable = No
Title = [Blank] using a title will cause it to display on the menu and splash screen (as it is a springboard)
Blocks Controlled = X# number of menu springboard buttons you will have, activates respective text indicators/colour blocks

(Optional) Create a Text Block (Press Indicator)
This textboard
(1) Indicates where pressing will bring up the menu screen
Customize Visually as You Wish
Layer = 5 allow items to retain interactive function depending on the splash close/menu open springboard
Text Content = Custom something that will indicate where clicking will close the splash screen and bring up the menu

(Optional) Create any item (for example purposes we will be using a date block)
Customize Visually as You Wish
Layer = 5 allow items to retain interactive function depending on the splash close/menu open springboard

*[MENU SCREEN]*
(Mandatory) Create a Springboard (Menu --> Splash)
_ This springboard
(1) Acts as an Initial Activator for the Splash Screen (On by Default)
(2) Acts as a button in the menu to return you to the splash screen
Expand to Button Size Desired
Customize Visual Off as You Wish
Customize Visual On as TRANSPARENT (hides on splash screen)
Layer = 3 lower layer than splash content will stop any splash screen interference
On by Default = Yes
Title = [Blank] using a title will cause it to display on the menu and splash screen (as it is a springboard)
Blocks Controlled = X# all splash screen items

(Optional) Create Text Block + Colour Block + Springboard Item(s)

_ PART I [CREATE TEXT BLOCK/COLOUR BLOCK] _
These Text Blocks/Colour Blocks
(1) Act as indicators for buttons in your menu
(3) are visually controlled by the mandatory splash springboard
Expand to Button Size Desired
Customize Visually as You Wish
Layer = 2 lower layer required to overlay an invisible springboard for menu buttons to function

PART II [CREATE SPRINGBOARD BLOCK]
These Springboards
(1) Act as the interactive function for menu buttons
(2) Sit beneath the splash screen; and so do not interfere with it
Expand to Button Size Desired
Customize Visually as TRANSPARENT when Off hides on splash screen

AS STATED BEFORE: This strategy requires that any items on the menu screen that open a menu cover the previous menu space to avoid easthetic problems, and include a close menu function. If someone would like to provide an adaptation to conserve the menu buttons, I will do my best to add the integration into a new How To.

If this guide can be simplified, if there are any errors or if you have any suggestions please reply.

OH ALSO I FORGOT!

[MENU SCREEN (con't)]
(MANDATORY) Create Colour Block (Scroll Space)
This Colour Block acts as a Scroll Space to Change Screens
  • IMPORTANT: Set to be activated by the Mandatory Splash Screen Springboard*
Expand to fit whatever Space you wish to be used for Scrolling
    Customize visually as you wish
Layer = 5 if you used layer 4 for its controlling springblock button
Layer = 7 if you used layer 6 for its controlling springblock button
this area cannot overlap button areas.

After some extensive toying I have found a few modest flaws with this, but they can be worked around;

however I have abandoned this build in favour of a more adequate format..
...this build however does provide a solid foundation for exploration of splash screen techniques.
