This bitmap limit thing is starting to irritate me.

It seems like I can't find a happy median. At 3500000, screens transition smoothly but I get bitmap limit errors. At 4000000, screens hitch and hiccup, but I don't get errors. Nothing in between seems to make any difference either way.

The "error inflating widget" is also getting on my nerves. Only seems to happen with Beautiful Home and smaller home.

It wouldn't bother me so much, but I'm getting ready to go on a trip with three iPhone users and I wanted to show off the capabilities of Android. What better "window front" than the ultimate customizable home app...Sweeter Home... Unfortunately, at this point, I'm afraid my little Droid is gonna be embarrased.

Yes, I understand this is a beta, and that's my first line of defense. That said, consider this constructive critcism. I'm not planning on dumping SH2, but I would like to see it refined a bit more on the back end. And, yes, I would pay for this app as a ver. 1.0 full release. I think it has amazing potential for tweakers like me...people who gravitate toward android in the first place.

Final note...if you aren't familiar with them, you might want to check out the Philips Pronto line of universal remotes. They have a fully customizable GUI with a PC-based editor that isn't unlike what SH@ is becoming. There may be a vast wealth of inspiration available in using that editor for a while.

Many thanks and keep up the good work!

All I can say is - I never get these kind of errors on my Magic or my N1 - and the only difference I can see between my layouts and most other people is that I use NO widgets. None. They mostly annoy me, and are obvious memory hogs, on SH or any other kind of home. I downloaded a theme the other day that had 17 widgets loaded in it. SEVENTEEN!!!

That being said, the dev is making constant improvements, but one thing to remember is that this app lets you design the UI on the fly which is NOT what Android was designed for. He's trying to get an audience with Google to talk about his issues with how SH handles images, but the results of that talk may be some time off.

Understood, thanks.

Most of my themes have around 5 widgets. most prominent is the large beautiful home.

Dude are you using a Droid? I just realised the Droid only has 256ram vs 512 on N1. But still, I wasn't getting the same results as a lot of people on my Magic... apart from the long resumes.

Yes, Droid. Rooted and OC'd and barebones-ed (to free up memory). Until now, I've only been running ESE81-based ROMs, but I'm getting ready to try Bugless Beast v0.8, which ESE53. Maybe the older base will be a bit more stable.
