A very small number of Droids hang on reboot
Added by Lemon over 2 years ago
If this has happened to you we urgently need a logcat from the boot attempt to find out what is causing this. (The Sweeter Home team has tested on a Droid for months with no problems at all).
See here for instructions on how you can help. We NEED your help!!!.

I'm having this issue, and tried to help, but when I try and get it to create the log, it just hangs on my cmd line too.

Can you run DDMS from the \Tools directory.
RE: A very small number of Droids hang on reboot - Added by sweeterhome over 2 years ago
Soultics, thanks for helping us debug this. The instructions were incomplete here, sorry. We've fixed the instructions -- can you recheck and try again?
The "adb logcat >shlog.txt" command line will keep running until you press Control-C or Control-break to end it.

I had this happen to me also, luckily I was able to escape it somehow. After re-installing I haven't had any problems yet.
RE: A very small number of Droids hang on reboot - Added by soultics over 2 years ago
I needed my phones functionality, so I had to do a factory reset, so I was unable to keep it in that form. I've yet to reinstall, I may be able to reproduce the problem, but likely not if you're unable to do so. This issue arose the day I choose to use SweeterHome as my default home screen, before that I just had the box pop up asking me everytime, hopefully that will help.

Good News Folks (well bad for me :\...)!!! I'm getting the red-eye lopp again, I haven't even really been editing skins. I'll be sure to get a logcat.

Edit: ok weird...As soon as I plugged in my USB cord to get a logcat it went into the lock screen...I'm going to reboot to see if it happens again...

Ok looks like it's fine now...shucks... I'll definitely send a logcat if it ever happens again.

This has to be some type of display issue because when it did happen on my wifes droid it was weird. I couldn't figure out what was going on after the the reboot, all sounds worked and she was receiving text message alerts so as it was stuck I decided to call her from my phone. The call came thru like normal on her phone (display wise). After the call the phone went back to the normal state (back to SH2 home screen).

It would be great if you get this again, if you can follow the link in the top post and assist. The dev can stop this happening, but not without a log from the boot, to show where it's hanging...

Well I guess I'm one of those very small number of Droid users:
I am not sure what happened Iver been using this for over 2 weeks now, BUT since last night I am getting the red eye lock whenever I try to turn my Droid on.
All I did was remove the battery from my device last night because with light use I had to charge my Moto Droid 3 times (battery icon went amber).
When I put the battery back into my device I locked up at the red eye and it stayed there for about 20 minutes before I realized.
I did not notice hat there was a problem because I heard the SMS, email, and twitter ringtones that always play when I receive one of the for mentioned.
I went into safe mode and un-install SweetHome in order to get my Droid to power on when I press the power button...
I then re-installed and changed the theme to see if it was related (wish I noticed which theme I was using because I LOVED it).
OK so I have found that as long as I don't choose SweetHome as the default home I don't have an issue.
Its once I choose SweetHome as the default (which I wish I could) it causes this problem.
Can anyone help me with this???
Is there a fix?
Is is close to being identified?
I like this home app and would hate, hate, hate, to loose its options.
Help Please

It would help the dev debug the issue if you could post the logs to them as mentioned above... have you sent them to the dev using SH?

My Droid hung (hanged?) awhile back while I was doing heavy theme editing, then tried to switch wallpapers, and nearly bricked on me. I tried to send the log, but that hung (hanged?) too :/
Lately, I rebooted my Droid (something I haven't done in awhile) and I noticed it took a bit longer to load, but it DID load.

My wife just had this issue yesterday, but before I could get home from work she got the message on screen that sweeter home wasn't responding and she had the option to force close or quit, she chose force close and then sweeter home restarted like normal.
I don't know what caused the issue. She said that there was an error message and all she had was a black screen, then she pulled the battery to restart it, and then had the same common error as mentioned above.
I've told her if it happens again to just leave the phone alone until I get home so I can try and get a log out of it.
She has terrible technology luck so I'm sure it'll happen again.

this happened to me as well, I pulled the battery three times and just let it load, took about 20 minutes to come on. How do I enter sade mode?

Had the same issue here last night also. Seems to be a pattern going on. Was not able to get log file of the lockup though.

I've had this problem on several occasions. First time, I hard reset the phone after allowing it to sit all night at the 'EYE'. The next time it happened, while sitting at the eye, I received a phone call. The phone immediately went to the Phone app. After that, I had to FC SH and the hang on boot issue cleared up.

For some reason, the battery pull seems to make my phone take longer to boot from the red eye. Are there any other causes as well?
RE: A very small number of Droids hang on reboot - Added by cowpoke over 2 years ago
I was having this issue, but the FEB 10 release seems to have fixed it. No clue if you guys fixed it or if something just got corrupted in my last version and the unistall/reinstall did the trick, but SH is more stable for me now.
RE: A very small number of Droids hang on reboot - Added by Oisin about 2 years ago
Its not fixed... Just rebooted and it took a while, I could still interact with the eye on the screen, its not fixed I tell you please still work on it.
RE: A very small number of Droids hang on reboot - Added by Lemon about 2 years ago
Guys, it can't be fixed unless SOMEONE, ANYONE gives us logcat output from the attempted boot. Please click the link in the first post for more info! :)

I never did have the problem until this weekend. It happened twice. I never did get the logcat because I was in a hurry and didnt have time to do so. If it happens again I will do my best to get that to the SH crew. I dont have a dock but did find that if you call your Droid it brings up the phone app. After that things will function as normal. Thats how I worked around it. It is strange though that I never had this problem until now.
RE: A very small number of Droids hang on reboot - Added by qwiksilver711 about 2 years ago
this happens to me every reboot, i'll try tonight to get you logcat output from all the attempted boot, it only happens on my droid when sweeter home is installed. If i use a nandroid restore from before sweeter home it will boot, I'll attempt to get the logcat tonight
RE: A very small number of Droids hang on reboot - Added by qwiksilver711 about 2 years ago
snap, I cant get a logcat, because my pc wont connect to my droid, if you get ahold of me with another way to do it i'll get it to you, i notice a ton of logdumps on my sd from sh2
RE: A very small number of Droids hang on reboot - Added by Lemon about 2 years ago
Log dumps are from crashes - but not related to the red eye hang...
RE: A very small number of Droids hang on reboot - Added by ice456789 about 2 years ago
Been dealing with this for about 3 days. Just today it became EVERY time I rebooted it gave me the eternal eye (until a call came through). So I spent the time to set up ADB and do all that jazz to get you a logcap. Now that I have done that, it reboots just fine. Quite quickly. Rebooted 6 times, no dice. Perhaps ADB somehow pulled it out of the loop like a call would?
Here's my setup in case that has something to do with it.
Droid
Running Bugless Beast 2.0.1 v1.1
Chevy kernal @ 1.25ghz (running at 900)
Feb 10 version of SH2
RE: A very small number of Droids hang on reboot - Added by Lemon about 2 years ago
I think the Dev got a logcat from some awesome user out there. Hopefully will be fixed in the next version.
RE: A very small number of Droids hang on reboot - Added by ignatius about 2 years ago
Thats good news. Its a little strange, because after that weekend the hang happened to me twice it hasnt happened since. Was this a consistent issue for those other users who experienced the red eye hang? Special thanks to whoever it was that sent in the logcat.
RE: A very small number of Droids hang on reboot - Added by Lemon about 2 years ago
So the new build has a possible fix for the hang. Go get it:
