SmallCaps theme
Added by elblacksheep about 2 years ago
So, I'm getting ready to make a major overhaul from my 1.x versions to 2.0, and I'd like your suggestions for areas in need of improvement! For those not familiar, SmallCaps is the theme I've been developing over the last week. In it's current version:
My goal with this theme is to make it light and powerful. I didn't want to use too many flashy widgets and pictures; instead focusing on using text, gradients and transparencies to create a theme that would work well with nearly any wallpaper the user wishes to use. So far I feel I've been successful, and judging by the ~500 downloads I'd say some of you agree.
But nothing is perfect, so I'd like to hear what the rest of the community would like to see in the next version. Things I've already decided to change:
- Landscape will be completely redesigned.
- Most of the text-buttons will now become menus (like the current GPS and Games menus).
- As much as I like the way the digital clock widget looks, it has to go until the SH devs fix the issue with widgets not updating. The PureCalendar widget may also receive the same fate.

By the time you update the widget fix will prolly be out... hopefully anyway...

Can you please put the background download link up or the actual picture?
RE: SmallCaps theme - Added by elblacksheep about 2 years ago
It's one of the stock backgrounds from Android 2.0
And the theme is designed to work with just about any background you throw at it...

Yep, and it looks like widgets are working fully now! I don't have to delete them anymore :D

An EDIT option would be great...
Version 2.0 is released. Didn't have to change as much as I anticipated since the widgets were fixed.
- Landscape mode has been removed. It will make a return in a later version completely redesigned.
- Added a News menu. Music and Gmail menus will come when Live Folders are supported.
First post now shows the preview for v2.0.

Now up to version 2.3
Most noteworthy are the changes I've made to the Multimedia panel. I've done away with the Pandora button and turned both Music into a menu. I also turned Video into a menu.
Also of considerable mention: Some menus have been revamped: Videos now contains a separate tray for links to your favorite videos, Music contains a separate tray for links to playlists, and GPS contains a separate tray for navigation locations, freeing up the menu itself for GPS and location-based apps.
Once live folders are implemented, expect this kind of functionality to reach the Browser button and the Docs button.

How do I fix the errors that I am getting. Ex. When I click on camera it says "You attempted to trigger a missing item named Camera. The author of this theme may have included an application that you do not have installed....Find in market or Do nothing.....find in market results in an server error has occurred."

great job! on my moment, the date is cut off in the clock widget, and the galllery acts like ruemileo's camera button. any suggestions for a new sweeter home user?
RE: SmallCaps theme - Added by donkey almost 2 years ago
since I can't edit my previous post, got the clock widget to display correctly by editing the allowed space for it. I just added enuf room to the bottom for the date to show. still can't access gallery, though.

Its really nice, I love it!
But when I install this theme, all strings really small (Textsize 3, great for the eye would be like 12-14!). For example I'm not able to read the changelog.
I tried to adjust the textsize by myself, but I found that not all of them can be adjusted. The three categories on top of 1. and 2. screen are one of those which i can't adjust.

Happy birthday.
All 7px fonts changed to 13px, so it is "readable" now. Didn't change the tiny tiny stuff on the changelong, but that should be easy enough anyway.
Note that I did do this on the PC, so I might have missed something. Like I said, I just changed everything from 7 pixel to 13 pixel, didn't even check for other things.

I'm not sure if this has be asked...but how can I make the "Phone", "Camera" etc shortcuts to the actual application and not to an app on the market I dont have installed? BTW....this theme is nice elblacksheep....very impressive! New to Sweeterhome and I'm comfortable with this theme for real.

Edit the theme and change it from Phone to PHONE. Or something like that, depends on your phone. Most phones use either 1st letter capital like Phone, or all caps like PHONE, so try changing it to the other version.
RE: SmallCaps theme - Added by Lemon about 1 year ago
Depends how the author linked it.
If he used a custom tray with the icons hidden, then just long press, drag the app out to a blank part of the screen, then press in there again and add the Phone app.
If it was an action tray, then you may need to edit the URI that aims at the phone dialer.

Hey, I'm back. </random>
Wow, 17000 downloads... I'm impressed.
I decided to give SH another shot. I'm still kinda sad that there's no feature list or changelog anywhere to show what's changed over the last 11 months that I've been using other home apps...
I'll be tweaking the theme over the next few weeks, trying to come up with some improvements for possibly a new update. Please leave any comments and suggestions!
Thanks :)
