Springboard Activate on Release rather than on Press

Added by genei09 over 2 years ago

Not sure if it's even possible but it would be nice.

I had to move the "close" springboard away from another springboard because it would cause a constant toggling as long as I touched in the same area where the two overlapped.
For example in my SolarSystem theme on the right most screen if I put my "close" springboard in the upper right of the trays it would overlap with the springboard for Jupiter. Attempting to close a tray by touching the X would close the tray but then immediately open the Social tray which is the action of Jupiter, which made the X appear again...and so on.

Clearly not a frequent occurrence in most themes but a nice feature none the less.

Would a long press option for a springboard offer any kind of useful functionality?

Have you tried putting them on separate layers?

Yup, they are on separate layers.

The issue isn't that they both activate at the same time but that the current functionality allows you to touch the screen and and move slide your finger across a series of springboards and each will pop up the corresponding tray the moment it is touched.

So the way I have things functioning in SolarSystem is this:
Springboard:Jupiter -> Activates Tray:Social, Springboard:X, Springboard:PlanetBlock, SystemWidget:Facebook
Springboard:X -> Activates Nothing
Springboard:PlanetBlock -> Activates Nothing

Both Jupiter and X Springboards are part of the same group, while PlanetBlock is part of a second group

Jupiter is in layer 3, PlanetBlock in 4, and X in 5

So touching Jupiter causes everything to open, and touching X causes everything to close. Springboard:PlanetBlock covers the other planets to prevent the user from touching a planet on accident instead of using the X to close the springboards.

With X directly over Jupiter and touching the screen at X causes everything to close, then open, then close ..etc until you stop touching the area.
