New Build-June

Added by EbE404 3 months ago

Hi, guys

Any change logs or details about the new June build? I'm guessing that this was just another expiration update, but wanted to check.

I did notice that after a reboot, the Facebook widget seemed to be causing random reboots. Deleted and readded, and that solved the issue, but was wondering about other things to look for and test in this build.

Thanks!

There have been 2~3 new builds in June (last one was just yesterday). Anyone know what's changed in the new versions?

Unfortunately, I haven't seen one yet. I just downloaded the build from yesterday, and after some use and editing, it seems like a couple of things might be a bit smoother, but I've been tweaking a lot of things on the phone lately, so I can't really provide any sort of real feedback, other than the minor Froyo issue I reported with the Contact Shortcuts is still there.

The front page of the website is still making reference to the April 10 expiration of the March build.

I know the documentation bit is one of the least exciting and interesting part of development, but it really is one of the most critical part of beta testing, as it helps the testers stay up to date on what to check, test and report.

Hey, Lemon-I know this isn't anybody's full time gig, and we all really appreciate everybody's efforts on this really excellent piece of software, so if there is anything we can do to help out with any documentation or reporting, please just ask and we'll do whatever we can. I show this off and tell people about it constantly, and really want to help make it successful.

I agree. Some kind of changelog would be greatly appreciated.

Nice work on 815!!!!

It seems like a lot (if not all) of my issues with memory have been solved. running pretty solid and smooth. We'll see how it plays with the new Froyo roms coming in a few days.

Hmm, not so smooth for me so far with the 815 build. Everything seems to be working reasonably well, but I've been getting a lot of errors (all sent off and reported), more so than with the 811 build. I just flashed Kangerade V1.1 with a P3 1000 LV kernel. On the plus side, no FCs and my All Apps drawer that was empty this morning has repopulated, but the Contact shortcuts are still not working and the overall stability seems a bit off.

I'll give the new ROM and kernel a couple of days to settle in and see how it goes, hopefully, now that the full source code has been released, that will help the ROM and app devs.

I spoke a bit prematurely, although I've seen a big overall improvement with 815. A few hiccups when I reloaded everything on my theme, and had to crank bitmap limit back up to 44,000,000 to stop getting memory errors, but everything seems to be running good. A bit strange that I'm having to set the bitmap that high to keep widgets running smoothly because someone else with a comparable number of widgets (I have 24) and system memory (mine is taking up 50meg resident, 34meg effective) is doing fine with 8M bitmap limit. Might have something to do with running everything off just 1 locked home screen.

I tried adding back some image blocks, but then started getting memory errors and lagging badly (don't know if that has anything to do with using the wallpaper on full screen image blocks). I guess I'm already pushing the ram as you can see from where I need to set bitmap limits.

Still getting a lot of slow re-draws/soft force closes of Sweeterhome when exiting some apps and the browser. I believe this to be a FRF57 issue.

Running BB.021 (FRF57) with Chevy's ULV 1200 kernal. Uploading an updated theme later today: PowerUserDroid by kodiak799.

I seem to be having a lot of widget issues. Specifically, with Beautiful Widgets Brightness, Bluetooth, Silent, GPS, WiFi and Plane widgets, although Beautiful Home seems to be working fine. Also having problems with Color note widgets.

Essentially, they are frozen-press them and they do nothing. If I switch back to the stock home in Kangerade V1.1, the same widgets are working fine. Deleting and reinstalling Color note did not fix the issue. I ahve seen them intermittently work, but they freeze up pretty quickly after that. Other widgets, such as Facebook and SetCPU seem fine. It seems that the widgets that have a live, running data connection are staying alive, whereas the widgets that are tied to system functions keep freezing on me.

i didn't have any problems with these widgets in the 811 build on the same ROM and kernel, so I think this one is new.

I had the same issue in 811 and probably the one before that with a few widgets, namely AudioManager small and Airplane mode toggle. Also getting the work intermittently bug. I think this is a FRF57 issue, as well as the null javascript error or whatever it is on boot, but I don't have any desire to flash back to 2.1 to test. FRF57 also seems to be a bit buggy in terms of ram mgmt which is probably contributing to some of the memory issues as well.
