Description

I created a block that is opened by a springboard. Into that block I put a shortcut created via Bettercut. After doing that, the shortcut was there, but it was also on a custom app block that always shows on my screen. Now, I was running SH via Homeswitcher and after I went back to my default home, heh, there were shortcuts there as well.

I was running SH along with my default home until I got SH set up the way I wanted. But, seeing the shortcuts all over the place surprised me a bit.

This has to do with the shortcut handling by Android.

When you create a shortcut in SH you are actually creating a shortcut for your "Home" screen. So, the shortcut is placed in both locations. You can always go back and delete the shortcuts on your stock "home" screen later.

Also, If you add a shortcut through an application to your home screen that shortcut will paste into all of your custom trays by default. Then you go to the trays in SH that you don't want the shortcut, long press and drag them out of the tray.

SH is unique in that a shortcut from an app can't just go to one location - your "home" screen - because SH doesn't have any space on the home screen. The home screen real estate is replaced with the trays. Since one can't move an app from a tray on one screen to a tray on another screen the shortcut is just placed in all of the trays one has. Then you just remove the shortcut where it isn't wanted.

My example is that I use an app to look up what is playing at my favorite movie theaters. I have two theaters that I go to watch movies. So, when I have the app open I can create shortcuts to each theater. When I do so SH will copy the created shortcut and paste it in all the custom trays. I can then go to each tray and delete them where I don't want the shortcuts and leave them where I want them.
