Description
It just seems that SH is Always trying to scan for apps. It is very annoying. Especially, since I don't use ANY tagged trays!
Please allow us to disable this feature like we can do with the Sync feature.

"scanning apps" means it's figuring out which apps have been added/removed/changed, what their new icons are, etc. If this gets turned off, then SH would not potentially not be able to launch any newly added apps and would still show removed apps.
Is it just annoying that the message shows up, or does it degrade performance? It's almost a debugging feature -- months ago there were bugs where newly installed apps didn't show up. But there haven't been any bugs lately.

A little of both. I'm on the G1 and it is so memory challenged that it is constantly running out of memory. So, it seems every time it gets below a certain memory level SH refreshes... When SH refreshes it scans for new apps. I can't really do anything till that refresh and scan are done. It isn't near the issue it used to be since SH has been sped up considerably in the last few updates.
But, that explains why you didn't provide that option when you provided the option to turn off the sync feature.
At least now I know it is a somewhat necessary evil! LOL

When resuming, it should only scan apps if an app actually changed. There is a scenario where, when your phone is low on RAM, if you're in another app, SH will get closed. If an app changes while SH is closed, then SH is still notified, but rather than doing a full startup that would be needed to fully scan for apps, SH just makes a note to scan apps when it's resumed.
This seems to reduce the overall load on the system but does make it a little slower when resuming afterwards.
Are you seeing it scan apps even when you are sure no apps changed? If you are, that's a bug. If you see this, could you report it as a bug, including as much logging as possible?

Please, please please consider this. Even if not updating scanning apps, at least let us be able to turn off the notifications of scanning apps and syncing tags!!! It does it EVERY TIME I hit the Home button, even if I'm already on the home screen! (Galaxy S Vibrant on Froyo)...
