Description

Using phone Samsung Moment with Android 2.1.

SweeterHome2 stalls very frequently with the message "Starting SweeterHome2: Restoring State". It has been happening for the last few builds, but with Build-1146 it is happening almost every time after internet browsing. The browser being used has not changed, nor the SH2 theme is changed. SweeterHome2 Preferences have not changed (left with default settings). The device has more than 60MB RAM memory free.

Phone does become usable after SweeterHome2 completes "Restoring State".

What causes these stalls? How can we reduce the frequency of this happening. Thanks.

I have a Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.0.2 with 200-300MB of RAM available and after upgrading to the latest build on 5th of March I'm experiencing this same issue so often I can't save changes made in edit mode. Every time I try to back out after editing a tray or something SH2 crashes. I tried changing SH2 setting, but didn't help.

Could you all try the latest build 1185? Found a problem as you described for Android 4 and newer.

Hi,

Xperia X8, Android 2.1. This issue continues with build Eclair-1193. I tried disabling auto-sync for tags, thinking this could be the problem, but it made no difference.

Very annoying right now. Go to any app, no matter how small it is, and when exiting and returning to SH the message "Starting SweeterHome2: Restoring State..." appears, and it takes various seconds (10s sometimes) for SH to appear.

Is there some log file that I can send to help solve this problem?

Thanks for any help.

One thing to try is to power off/on the whole phone after installing. When you see "restoting state", it means the Android OS killed the app and it has to start over. This is less much likely to happen if Sweeter Home is started during power-on as the default launcher.

Kiomava,

Yes, I already did that: installed, rebooted, set SH as default launcher. But the problem continues. Strange, because Launcher Pro (my current launcher), and also ADW Launcher and GO Launcher always worked fine. Launcher Pro is very responsive, one of the best launchers I've used... until Sweeter Home.

One thing I notice is that, using Android Assistant to see what processes are running, SH isn't always on the list. I have to check a bit more on this but I have the impression that once another app is launched, SH is closed by the system.

The other aforementioned launchers, on the other hand, when in use are always listed in the process list. And only Launcher Pro has specific memory management tools, but even with them not in use it works fine.

Maybe SH needs an option to keep it in memory? (like when a notification is added to the notification bar... I forget the correct words now).

Anyway, I'm here to test and help. I think testing is all I can really do to help, but it's something.

regards,

Michael

[UPDATE]

Today I did some more tests.

Since the beginning, I was using the Corio theme as a basis for a new, simple theme. So today I downloaded antother theme, Groupie, and for some time the problem did not occur.

Thinking the problem was something in the theme, I started deleting one block at a time from my modified Corio theme, but unfortunately the problem persisted even with almost no blocks (or maybe none).

The Groupie theme did seem a lot more "stable" (i.e., much less messages), but I was unable to track the problem to the actual theme.

I've installed the latest release. I do still have to wait a short time to reload SH after running at app, but the wait time isn't so bad anymore.

The other issue of icons disappearing from trays is still there.
