Springboard Overview

Sweeter Home themes are made up of "blocks". A block is an item which sits in the grid and performs an action, whether that's showing the time, or letting you add apps to it and scroll through them.

A springboard is a feature by which you can effectively minimize one or more blocks and reveal these with one press, allowing you to create rich, deep and complex themes.

There are currently two types of Springboard: a Springboard based in a custom tray which we'll call a Springboard Icon; and a whole block which acts as an on off button for your Springboards which is called a Springboard Block.

It's generally preferred to use a Springboard Block in any instance where a Springboard is required (exceptions where using a Springboard Icon is preferred are listed below).

Springboard Block

Using a Springboard block is preferred as it's highly configurable, and functionally much deeper. A whole Springboard block acts as a "button" to launch the associated blocks, and the background, frame and title is fully configurable in both it's "On" and "Off" state. Most importantly you can control any number of blocks with a Springboard block, allowing you to reveal multiple groups of blocks with a single press. Further, it allows you to control Springboard blocks with Springboard blocks meaning you can build levels or menus within your Springboard group.

Functionally a Springboard block is simple enough to get a basic setup working in moments, while deep enough to offer wildly complex layouts.

Springboard Icon

Long press in a Custom Tray to add a Springboard icon. This icon sits in the tray along with any other apps or shortcuts. You must have the "target" block on the screen before you can add a Springboard icon. The only reason you may want to use a Springboard icon in a custom tray is if you have reason to have it displayed in a list of existing apps/shortcuts, or if the area you want to press to activate the Springboard doesn't sit comfortably in the Sweeter Home grid. Currently you can't change the icon graphic for this type of Springboard.
